Chicken in Tamarind Sauce
Chicken in Tamarind Sauce Ingredients:
- 1/2 kg boneless chicken
- 1/2 cup oil
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 4 green chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup tamarind paste
- 1/2 cup tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds, roasted
- 6 whole red chilies
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp black pepper, crushed
- 2 curry leaves
- 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
- Salt to taste
Tamarind Sauce :
Method:
- In a small bowl, add tamarind paste, garlic cloves, tomato ketchup,red
chili, salt and black pepper.
- Mix well.
- Pour this sauce over the chicken.
- Turn to coat evenly.
- Cover and marinate chicken for 30 minutes.
- Now heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan or skillet.
- Place marinated chicken in it.
- Cook on low flame for 10-12 min or until no longer pink.
- In a separate pan, Heat remaining oil ,add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add curry leaves, whole red chili , cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds.
- Stir fry for 30 seconds or until golden brown.
- Now add cooked chicken into it.
- Cover and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Put chopped tomatoes, green chilies, lemon juice
- Cook on low heat for 10 minutes or until sauce is thickened.

- Serve hot with steamed rice.
